Ripley’s record-breaking human hairball to fall on New Years Eve

ORLANDO, Florida – It’s not a crystal ball that falls on New Years Eve this year, it’s the biggest human hair ball in the world.

Believe it or not from Ripley! announced on Friday that he was going to pull down Hoss, the world’s largest human hair ball, during a countdown on Facebook on New Years Eve.

Originally created by Ohio stylist Steve Warden, Hoss eclipsed 100 pounds in 2019. Since then, more than 3,000 people have contributed to his weight.

According to Guinness World Records, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! recently broke the existing record for the largest human hair ball ever made at over 55 pounds.

Today, Hoss weighs 225.13 pounds.

A majority of Hoss’ record weight can be attributed to Ripley’s Shave the Beard and Make it Weird! campaign, which launched last month at the IAAPA Expo 2021 at the Orange County Convention Center.

The campaign not only helped Hoss grow, but it also helped support Give children the village of the world in Osceola County. The 89-acre nonprofit is giving critically ill children and their families a magical week-long vacation at no cost.
