Paul Parker calls for the omission of Marcus Rashford.
Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has asked Ralf Rangnick to let Marcus Rashford out of the future starting XI.
Rashford has played 76 minutes since the start of the Red Devil’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in Rangnick’s first game as interim manager last Sunday, as the German coach began to lay the groundwork for a new system at Old Trafford.
Paul Parker: “He cannot continue to choose Marcus Rashford. “
However, Parker says Rangnick’s favorite 4-2-2-2 formation won’t suit Rashford and the forward should be dropped in favor of Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood scored United’s goal in their 1-1 Champions League draw on Wednesday, as Rashford was on rest with the other 10 starters last weekend.
“If he wants to play with his system, he (Rangnick) cannot continue to choose Marcus Rashford,” Parker wrote in his column for Eurosport.
“I think he needs to watch Mason Greenwood more – he’s someone who can play wide and central.
“Greenwood needs a series of games or he will start to be disillusioned. He will ask himself: “Why can’t I join the team after Marcus Rashford’s recent performances?” “
Rangnick salutes the attributes of Greenwood.
After Greenwood’s goal on Wednesday, Rangnick spoke at length about the technical qualities of the 20-year-old, but added that he will need to improve physically in order for him to reach his highest level.
“I think we have to develop him physically,” the 63-year-old told reporters.
“Technically, anything he can do with the ball is exceptional. So I’m not too worried about his technical level. We have to develop him physically and mentally to become the strongest version of himself.
“If we succeed, he can become a regular player and a very valuable player for our club in the future.”
“I didn’t fall into the trap of saying how good things were against Crystal Palace last weekend.” ??@ realpaulparker2 looks back at the start of the Ralf Rangnick era at Old Trafford

Rashford missed the first seven Premier League games of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery over the summer, before scoring a comeback in the October 4-2 loss to Leicester City.
He has since scored two more goals in all competitions but is currently on a seven-game scoreless streak.
